***NOTICE***
UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE VEHICLES WILL NOT BE
ALLOWED TO DRIVE DOWN OVER THE HILL TO THE COUSINS ISLAND
WHARF DURING HOURS OF CONSTRUCTION (7am - 5pm, Monday -
Friday)
Due to congestion and safety issues, vehicles
will not be allowed to drive down over the hill during hours
of construction activity on the new Cousins Island
turn-around. The ONLY exceptions are the CTC bus and rescue
units.
This order will remain in effect until the
completion of construction (perhaps August).
CTC and the Town of Chebeague Island will be
supplying help in getting your supplies /groceries down over
the hill to the wharf. Pull cart wagons will be available
at the Cousins Island lot.
PLEASE ask (in advance) the CTC Crew
(Deckhand or Bus Driver or Willie at 615-8338) if you need
assistance in any way. This includes a bus ride to the
entrance of the Cousins Island Parking Lot or to have your
supplies/groceries come to the wharf from the Route One
Parking Lot via the bus.
The best solution for the duration is to park
at Route One and take the bus.
We thank you for your understanding and
patience while this project is being completed. If you have
any questions, please contact the Town Office at
207-846-3148 or CTC at 207-846-3700.
For wheel chair assistance
from the top of the hill, please call ahead to the CTC at
846-3700.
Ferry Service
The CTC ferry operates
between Chebeague
Island
and
Cousins Island.
Ours is a passenger ferry (no vehicles); no reservations
required. Cousins
Island
is connected to mainland Yarmouth, Maine by a bridge.
The ferry boat remains tied up at the Stone Wharf on
Chebeague
Island
between trips.
So, when it's time for a trip, the boat leaves Chebeague
with mainland-bound passengers, goes to Cousins, unloads and
loads passengers, returns to Chebeague.
Each one-way trip takes about 15 minutes; longer if
there is a lot of luggage, groceries, etc. to be loaded.
